The Office of Global Programs will offer a new study abroad program in Havana, Cuba, coordinated through the Consortium for Advance Studies in Cuba (CASA-Cuba).
The program, a collaborative initiative run by Brown in conjunction with Cornell, Columbia, Dartmouth, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern and the University of Pennsylvania, will provide students with a unique opportunity to take classes at Cuba’s leading institution of higher learning, the University of Havana, as well as having direct access to Casa de Las Américas, the Cuban government’s premier research institution on Caribbean and Latin American studies, Cuban culture and the arts.
CASA-Cuba, the University of Havana and Casa de Las Américas have worked together to develop a program of study that will challenge students to achieve a critical understanding of the key economic, political and artistic issues facing Cuba and provide access to leading academic experts in the social sciences, arts and humanities. Students will have an opportunity to enroll in up to four courses through CASA, and/or through direct-enrollment courses through the University of Havana.
