Alyssa is interested in anthropology as a discipline with which she might engage marginalized communities and render them on their own terms, while at the same time questioning the structures of power involved in that rendering. She hopes to do research on the interaction between neoliberal policy and marginalized populations, focusing on the effects of privatization of social services on the communities which depend upon them. Alyssa is also interested in philosophy and religion, two fields which will enrich her approach to anthropological study.
