1910
At the April 4, 1910 meeting of the College Alumni Association, George Brokaw Compton CC’1909 introduced a resolution that the lion be adopted as the mascot of Columbia. The motion was passed. At the conclusion of his speech, Compton, with the assistance of CCAA President James Duane Livingston CC’1880, presented a lion banner to the Columbia Collection. The banner was later featured on this cover of the Columbia Alumni News in 1924.
