
Freedom of expression is a core value at Columbia and at other institutions of higher education. However, tensions on campuses across the country and recent actions by the federal government have raised difficult questions as to how universities can maintain an academic environment free of discrimination and hostility while also upholding important principles of free speech.
This talk, part of the Big Topics | Short Takes series, led by the David J. Greenwald Professor of Law, Joshua Mitts BUS’18, will explore these challenges and attendees will consider how universities can preserve their core mission and values against a backdrop of challenges to academic freedom.
