On Tuesday, May 17, 1,089 members of the Class of 2016 will gather on South Lawn for the College’s Class Day, which marks the transition from student to alumnus/a. Graduates represent 46 states (plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico) and 49 foreign countries, and have a wide array of interests (the top five majors this year were political science, economics, financial economics, neuroscience and behavior, and psychology).
Dean Baquet CC’78, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and executive editor of The New York Times, will give the keynote speech while salutatorian Zoey Poll CC’16, an urban studies major, will give introductory remarks. Kicking off the festivities will be the 13th Annual Alumni Parade of Classes, a special occasion that not only honors the graduation of the Class of 2016, but also celebrates the alumni connection to the College. Alumni march from John Jay to the South Lawn tent with their class banners in a procession that demonstrates the lifelong bond alumni have with the College. If you are interested in marching, please register here.
