Alumni from classes ending in 4 and 9, along with the Class of 2018, and their guests returned to Morningside Heights May 30–June 1 to reimmerse themselves in the College experience and connect with friends old and new.
#ColumbiaReunion2019 had the largest attendance yet, with more than 4,000 enjoying a weekend packed with Mini-Core Classes, lectures, tours, lunches, receptions, dinners and parties.
Friday got underway with a trip down memory lane with breakfast in John Jay Dining Hall. Revisiting Contemporary Civilization for a lecture on freedom, along with a stellar panel on diversity and inclusion in tech from Columbia College Women, brought the program through the afternoon. In the late afternoon, alumni relaxed during a lawn party on Van Am Quad, a new event this year.
Friday night was filled with excitement as more than 1,500 young alumni from the four undergraduate schools danced and enjoyed the views at the annual Young Alumni Party, held at Guastavino’s in Midtown East.
Headlining Saturday was the Reunion Keynote, featuring a moderated discussion between Maggie Gyllenhaal CC’99 and Beau Willimon CC’99, SOA’03. It was also another day for classes and lectures, plus Camp Columbia, and a wine tasting on the Steps. The weekend closed on Saturday night on Low Plaza and the Steps with dancing, live music and laughter at the Starlight Celebration.
