The vice president of development and the co-chairs of the Columbia College Fund serve as alumni leaders and crucial partners in building support for the College Fund. They work closely with the College Fund staff and alumni volunteers to provide strategic advice and general oversight.
Their Work
With the support of the executive director of the College Fund, Jonathan Sobel CC’88, the vice president of development, along with Jonathan Sobel CC’88 and Sherri Wolf CC’90, P: CC’21, CC’24, the co-chairs of the College Fund, lead the fundraising efforts for the College Fund. The vice president of development is responsible for the overall direction and implementation of strategy for the College Fund. The co-chairs lead planning efforts, draft and sign appeal letters to alumni and parents, and thank donors for leadership-level gifts. The vice president of development and the co-chairs work together to align College Fund strategy with the overall goals of Columbia College Alumni Association Board.

- Jonathan Sobel CC’88
Jon is managing member of DTF Holdings, LLC, which is an investment partner with, and advisor to, entities controlled by Texas financial services entrepreneur Gerald Ford. In this capacity, Jon serves as chairman of Hilltop Securities and a director of Hilltop Holdings. Separately, he is the owner of one of the nation’s larger groups of automobile dealerships, with more than twenty franchises in three states. He is a member of the Benefactors of Columbia University and serves on the Columbia College Alumni Association Board of Directors and the Core to Commencement Campaign Steering Committee. He previously served as co-chair of his 25th and 30th Reunion Committees and was awarded the President’s Cup in 2013 for his leadership and contributions to reunion. Jon received the John Jay Award in 2004 and was a member of the Board of Visitors for more than a decade. In addition to his activities at Columbia, Jon serves on the Board of Trustees for the Hospital for Special Surgery and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
