The winners of Dean James J. Valentini’s Senior Fund Kick-Off Challenge ate lunch together in the Dean’s Office. Valentini challenged students at the kick-off event on October 22 with the following question: “Why did I choose to support your efforts by matching all dollars raised up to $6,022.14?” The correct answer — that the six digits of $6,022.14 comprise the first six digits of Avogrado’s constant c.02214129(27)x10²³mol^-1, shared in honor of Mole Day, which this year also was Columbia’s second annual Columbia Giving Day (October 23) — was submitted by Matt Chou ’14, Katie Peyser ’14 and Leo Schwartz ’14.
