"The Chemistry of Life: Molecules, Biomedicine and the Fight Against Disease"
Join professor of chemistry Ruben L. Gonzalez Jr. in this three-session Mini-Core as he illustrates, with recent life-changing discoveries, how science is reshaping the future. These breakthroughs represent advances in our ability to decode and manipulate the molecular structures, dynamics and functions of DNA, RNA and proteins, revolutionizing how we fight diseases at their origins.
We will explore the powerful techniques driving these innovations, focusing on the cutting-edge tools used to study and manipulate the chemical makeup and behaviors of biomolecules. Participants will develop a deep understanding of the methods shaping the future of molecular medicine and biotechnology through the context of recent developments, including the use of biophysical chemistry approaches to advance CRISPR technologies and targeted cancer therapies.
