Join Nicholas Lemann, Dean Emeritus of Columbia Journalism School and Director of Columbia Global Reports, and Interim Dean of Students Roger Lehecka, for a discussion of Lemann's book Higher Admissions: The Rise, Decline, and Return of Standardized Testing.

The book explores the history of standardized tests, their role in sorting young Americans, the purpose of higher education, and how our meritocracy often excels at identifying those who accumulate wealth rather than fostering public-spirited leaders. For a preview of the book and discussion, check out this interview.

Open to undergraduate students, staff and alumni of Columbia College, Engineering and General Studies – this Community Conversations event is a partnership between Residential Life and the Undergraduate Community Initiative.
