My research focuses on structures of power and privilege in the US and Latin America, especially regarding how these structures operate through notions of authenticity, visibility, legibility, and performativity. I am double-concentrating in Race & Ethnicity (CSER) and Political Science: CSER to learn of and dissect the histories and current operations of these structures, and Political Science to learn the language and tools of these structures in dominant discourse. I am also interested in Visual Culture and how it is used as an accessible means of resistance and affirmation. As a Xicana who dances Ballet Folklórico Mexicano, I am grateful to be able to share in this experience.
