Daniel S. Alonso is interested in Mexico, Urban Anthropology, Critical Theory, Cultural Semiotics, Aesthetics, Heterology, Popular Religion, Mass Mediation, Affect, the “War on Drugs”, and the US-Mexico Borderlands. He is currently researching the politics and aesthetics of popular urban religious expression and representation in Mexico City, focusing primarily on the cult of La Santa Muerte (Saint Death).
