Description:
I completed my Sociology PhD with my dissertation "On the Midnight Train to Georgia: Afro-Caribbeans and the New Great Migration to Atlanta," focuses the new (post-1990) migration of Afro-Caribbean immigrants to Atlanta, Georgia, and its relationship to the larger migrations of African American "return" migrants, and of immigrant newcomers from Asia, Africa, and Latin America, to Atlanta and the South. I particularly examine what factors have led to their migration and how Afro-Caribbeans, as black immigrants, are being incorporated into Atlanta, which has become a destination for a diverse group of migrants from the United States and abroad.
