ALUMNI PROFILE
Young Lions
Why
are we printing this 13-year-old photo of a Denver boys soccer
team? To show the power of starting them off young — which
may be why one of their coaches, Howard Selinger '71 (red
shirt), chose Lions for the team's nickname. Three of the
7-year-olds in the front row are now Columbia Lions: Jeffrey
Waldman '03 (second from left), Daniel Touff '04
(center) and Gil Selinger '03 (second from right). They lost
touch after elementary school and attended different high schools:
Waldman graduated from Colorado Academy in Littleton, Colo., Touff
from Milton Academy in Cambridge, Mass., and Selinger from George
Washington H.S. in Denver. But once a Lion, always a Lion, and the
three were reunited at Columbia.
