ALUMNI UPDATES
Installation Artists
Marisa Yiu ’98 and Eric Schuldenfrei, an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of
Architecture, Planning and Preservation, design collaborators of ESKYIU, celebrated the
opening night of their art installation, “Chinatown WORK, 2006” on April 18 at Chinatown’s
Canal Street façade of HSBC Bank. The Public Arts installation, which featured lightboxes
and could be seen by pedestrians through the bank’s front window, ran until May 21.
According to the artists’ website (www.eskyiu.com), “Silhouettes of pedestrians mix the
footage of interior work spaces with time-lapse exterior street images of unique areas that
define New York’s Chinatown contemporary work culture. The piece focuses on those industries
that helped to establish and provide immigrants’ employment in New York in the past and still
today.” Attending the opening were Joyce Song ’98, Joy Sonson ’98, Damon Rich ’97,
Natalie Carlson ’98, Ron de Villa ’95 and Beth Stryker ’93.
