AROUND THE QUADS
Baquet Named Editor, The Los Angeles Times
Dean P. Baquet ’78 has succeeded John S. Carroll as editor of The
Los Angeles Times. Baquet, who prior was managing editor, won a Pulitzer Prize in
1988 as part of an investigative reporting team at the Chicago
Tribune. He served
as national editor, deputy metropolitan editor and special projects editor for
the business desk of The New York Times before moving to Los Angeles in 2000.
Publisher Jeffrey M. Johnson called Baquet “an exceptionally talented,
dynamic and well-respected editor who has been essential to the progress of
the Times during the last five years.”
